It is responsible of the design, development, implementation and verification of the Optical Image Generation and Processing Algorithms and Software. DEIMOS Space will participate in the technologies chain integration and verification and to the experimental campaign and evaluation and it will contribute to dissemination and exploitation activities

INSTITUTION DESCRIPTION

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its research and development in aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security and digitalisation is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures. In addition to its own research, DLR is responsible for the planning and implementation of the German space programme. DLR is also the umbrella organisation for the nation’s largest project management agency

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

DLR is involved in all aspects of the EO-ALERT project, from the management and coordination to the dissemination and exploitation of the outcomes. DLR’s main responsibility and contribution concern the development and design of highly performant algorithms for on-board Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image generation, information retrieval and definition of demonstration campaigns

INSTITUTION DESCRIPTION

The Institute of Communication Networks and Satellite Communications of Graz University of Technology is the leading scientific institution in satellite communications in Austria. It has been internationally renowned in the areas satellite transmission and networking, of microwave propagation, the application of space technology and the development of space-qualified hard- and software in EU Framework Programs, European Space Agency (ESA) projects, COST, national research programs and research contracts by industry and international operators as a Prime contractor or partner in international consortia

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

TU Graz is responsible for the design of an advanced communications system for the next-generation of EO satellites – using high-throughput optical and microwave links – and the development of a representative hardware/software link emulator. In addition, TU Graz will support the integration of this emulator into the test bench by OHB, and will assist in the testing, validation and demonstration of the high-speed, low-latency communications system

INSTITUTION DESCRIPTION

Politecnico di Torino was founded in 1906. It is a centre of teaching and research excellence, and one of the most important universities in Europe for architecture and engineering studies. Nowadays it has three Schools of Engineering, two Schools of Architecture, a School of Economics and Management, and a Post-Graduate School, with 33.000 students studying on 22 Bachelor’s degrees, 29 Master’s degrees, 16 PhD programmes and 18 specializations

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

Politecnico di Torino is responsible for the design of the data handling architecture enabling rapid generation and transmission of alerts. Moreover, it will address the development of lossless and lossy image/data compression techniques in order to reduce data volume prior to transmission to the ground segment, as well as the development of encryption techniques to provide confidentiality of the acquired data
